Today in Tha Wire, money is truly the root of all evil. Some people lose their minds and sell their souls over that all mighty dollar. When it comes to money, even family will sell you out. That's exactly what's going on with Rihanna and her estranged father, Ronald Fenty. It's sad because she had just allowed him back in her life after years of blaming him for breaking up their family with his addiction and abuse. The singer shared pics last year in August during happier times. A significant moment for the music star, as she enjoyed some long overdue family time with both of her parents.

According to Pagesix.com Rih Rih talked about her shocking childhood during an interview with Oprah in 2012, revealing her dad was an addict that was mentally and physically abusive to her mother. She told Oprah,

“I was so angry at him. I was just angry about a lot of things from my childhood, and I couldn’t separate him as a husband from him as a father,” she said with tears in her eyes, “I felt like if he was a bad husband he was a bad father. I witnessed a lot of things in my childhood.” Adding, “Yes [he was violent]. My family broke up because of his addiction.”

Over the years she would forgive her dad saying, “The minute I was able to realize my father was probably one of the best fathers in the world … he taught me everything,” she continued, “and as awful as he was to my mom at times, it didn’t compare to how great he was as a father, and I had to come to terms with that and I was able to close that gap.”

Sadly the singer has learned her dad has been using her name and fame to cash-in. The Blast reports the devastating details of Mr. Fenty working with another man, Moses Perkins, to extort his own daughter. He allegedly claimed to be her agent, soliciting business fronting to be in charge of all her business deals instead of her label Roc Nation and even booked bogus shows under his company Fenty Entertainment.

It's unclear of how Rihanna found out about her dad's get-rich scheme but filed a lawsuit soon after. Her legal team said in court docs that “Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf.” The singer's dad reportedly had several big-money deals lined up like a $15 million tour in LatinAmerica. He also managed to book two $400,000 concerts with one in L.A. at the Staples Center and another in Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena.

Wow! Just as he wins her trust back, he pulls the rug out from under her. That's pretty low down. Rihanna is suing for an unspecified amount.
