Lake Charles Councilman Has Proposal Of What Should Be Built At The Former Capital One Tower Site
(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - Councilman Matt Young has an interesting proposal on what should be built on the site of the former Capital One Tower in downtown Lake Charles.
He said at a recent Lake Charles council meeting that the city has a "once-in-a-generation opportunity" in front of them.

Young said the $30 million proposal would be paid mostly by federal recovery dollars already allocated to the area. Plus, he said the current location already has a parking garage and electrical infrastructure that will save even more taxpayer dollars.
Young wants to build a multi-sport complex and gym at the former Capital One Tower site location. He believes it would bring in tourism to the city with future basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and cheerleading tournaments. The plan to build the sports complex center was an existing proposal with the city, however, Young believes the perfect site is right off the interstate and visible from the bridge.

He believes it would drive huge foot traffic to local downtown businesses like restaurants, hotels, shops, and more.
At next Wednesday's council meeting, they'll vote on a resolution to select the former Capital One site for the proposed project.
