With Christmas just a few weeks away. It's still hard to believe that it is around the corner. I have decided to help out my friends a little bit for the upcoming holiday. This can go for that special lady or man in your life. Here are 5 things I wouldn't recommend to get someone for Christmas if you want to carry that relationship into 2022.

Fellas, when it comes to the big day please do not fall for the get me anything for Christmas. This is already a recipe for disaster and will surely leave some hurt feelings in the long run. If you have been together for a long time or a short time, the best thing to do is pay attention to that special lady in your life. If you watch them long enough, you will find out everything you need to know or even listen and she will tell you what she wants without asking for it.

Dishes

I remember one year my mother-in-law received some dishes for Christmas, let's just say that wasn't a smart decision. Most of the ladies of the home are handling the cooking and the last thing they want is something else to remind them of the hot kitchen, and having to decide what to cook when no one else knows. Especially Louisiana women, sure they can whip it up in the kitchen. But find the nearest Traileride or Zydeco and allow them to let their hair down for a moment. When it comes to dishes for the holidays, I would do a hard pass on that, hit the nearest party and you can go wrong with some nice diamonds.

Tools

Since I have been in Lake Charles, I have noticed that the fellas hear or some hard-working guys. Many are also good in the kitchen as well and generally just good with their hands. However, ladies, this one is going to be for you. Everyone is not a handyman including myself. I  can do you basically like changing the light bulb and doing some picture hanging on the wall. But under the kitchen sink is not my specialty. While there are many men out there who love a new drill or chainsaw, the tools shouldn't be on the top of the list unless he specifically asked for some.

Gym Membership

Who doesn't like a good membership to the gym right after two of the biggest holidays of the year? How about that significant other after seeing them demolish desserts and so much more during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Many people like to start off the new year with a new you type of situation. Yet, this is something that I would hold off on for Christmas. This is the equivalent of when your lady asks you how something fits here and you want to say, but you know you may get a plate thrown at you for speaking up. You may be able to ease into it by saying you want to join and gym and seeing if they would like to come. But I would maybe just wait a little while and see if it comes up in conversation.

Vegetarian Gumbo

I am all for people wanting to go in a healthy direction. However, if you come to my house for Christmas and we have Gumbo on the menu. In the words of Arbys "We Have The Meats". There is absolutely no other way that I would want to get a bowl or two of gumbo and it does not have Chicken, Sausage, or Shrimp in there. That will get you an automatic block from any future invites as possible passed on any invites from you.

Crimson Tide Jersey

Louisiana is heavy on the Saints and LSU. I moved here from Tuscaloosa over twenty years ago and one thing I know is that if I want to keep my playing cards here, do not give out an Alabama jersey to anyone that I am close to. There has been a rivalry for years and even more since Nick Saban has been running things with the Crimson Tide. I am going to go out on a limb and say that this could literally break up households if an Alabama jersey is wrapped up under a Louisianian's tree.

At the end of the day have a great Christmas and think about what's important. That is spending time with your loved ones during the holiday. What are some other items you may not want for Christmas?
