Three New Parishes Can Apply for Disaster Assistance from Hurricane Laura
Three new parishes can now apply for federal disaster assistance for uninsured and underinsured damage and losses resulting from Hurricane Laura. Those parishes are Caddo, La Salle and St. Landry.
Eighteen parishes were previously included in the federal declaration. They are Acadia, Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Grant, Jackson, Jefferson Davis, Lincoln, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Rapides, Sabine, Union, Vermilion, Vernon and Winn parishes.
To be eligible for federal disaster aid, storm damage and losses from the hurricane and flooding must have occurred as a result of Hurricane Laura.
Those with damage should file a claim with their insurance as they apply to FEMA.
To register with FEMA, go online to DisasterAssistance.gov or go through the FEMA app.
