Tampa Could Be First Team To Ever Play Super Bowl In Own Stadium
Super Bowl 55, also known as the Big Game, is set for Sunday, February 7 in Tampa. Who will play in the big game will be decided this weekend in the NFC and AFC championship games.
First up will be the NFC championship game, as Tampa Bay travels to Lambeau field to take on the Green Bay Packers Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm. That game will be televised on FOX.
In the AFC championship game, the Buffalo Bills travel to Kansas City to take on the defending Super Bowl champs the Chiefs in the late game. That game will kick off at 5:40pm on CBS.
The winners of these two games will punch their tickets to Super Bowl 55, which will be held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
No team in NFL history has ever played a Super Bowl in their home football stadium. The closest any team has ever come was in 1984, when the San Francisco 49ers played in Super Bowl 19 at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto, California.
So if Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs can defeat Green Bay this Sunday, they will be the first team to play the Super Bowl in their home stadium. That actually would be cool to see happen. We will have to see how the games shake out this weekend.
Las Vegas has the odds set, and both home teams are favored in the games.
