Shock G of Digital Underground Passes Away at 57
There are not a lot of details yet, but we have lost yet another artist from the Hip Hop community and we're only four months into the year. It was announced today that Rapper and producer Shock G of Digital Underground has died. We are continuing to get a blow to us in the music world as we are continue to lose so many of the artists we grew up on.
He was 57 years old and truly a trendsetter, from being one of the first to put Tupac on a song and creating classics we will forever love like The Humpty Dance, Kiss You Back, and Same Song, which was featured in the Chevy Chase movie, Nothing But Trouble.
Shock G created the alter-ego Humpty-Hump and the song was one of the biggest songs that year. It took awhile before people actually realized they were the same person.
We have literally lost three important people within three weeks, and it's taking a toll on so many who loved their music. The biggest thing I like to repeat is to take care of yourself. In the music world, it appears that is not an important message to relate to me. Whether it's heart attacks or homicide, I am tired of posting about another artist's passing.
My prayers go out to his family and those who will miss him dearly.
