Our deepest condolences go out to the family of '90s R&B crooner,  Jesse Powell. Much like all his fans around the world we were shocked to learn that the talented singer/songwriter had passed away. TMZ reports that Gary, Indiana, native was only 51 years old at the time of his death and it's unclear as to whether or not he was struggling with a long-term illness or if his passing was sudden and unexpected.

His sister Tamara Powell announced the devastating news to fans via Instagram.

Jesse Powell was in his early '20s when his music career took off. He was reportedly discovered by a music producer, Louil Silas Jr. while performing at a talent show in his hometown. Powell signed a record deal shortly after and dropped his self-titled debut album, Jesse Powell in 1996. He is best known for the touching ballad "You" a single found on his first project and then released as a stand-alone single in 1999.
