On Thursday (Aug. 25, 2022) the famous hot dog company, Oscar Mayer announced that they plan to sell limited edition hot dog-flavored popsicles in select cities across the U.S. I don't know about you, I like hot dogs (beef only) but when I think of popsicles, don't think of hot dogs. I like something fruity and sweet or the chocolate pudding pops we used to eat back in the day.

Hey, when you sell hot dogs, I guess you gotta try and see things through another set of lenses. That being said, the iconic Weiner company is going to debut the new "Cold Dog" popsicle at the brand new frozen dessert company, Popbar. These folks sell insanely delicious, traditional gelato on a stick!

Oscar Mayer's hot dog pop will roll out in big cities nationwide at Popbar locations including down east in New Orleans, New York, Atlanta, and Cali in Long Beach. According to the New York Post, "Cold Dog" pops will be sold for $2 and actually look like a hot dog drizzled with mustard. At press time Oscar Mayer said, the "Cold Dog" tastes just like the “smokey, umami notes of Oscar Mayer’s iconic Weiner.”

Oscar Mayer said they got the inspiration to make the "Cold Dog" from its social media campaign, “Stupid or Genius.” Apparently, thousands of hot dog fans thought a hot dog-flavored pop would be “genius.” So, this is pretty much what prompted the Kraft Heinz subsidiary to collab with Popbar. Oscar Mayer's head of North American brand communications, Anne Field said, “After the overwhelming fan excitement for our beloved Cold Dog, it was a no-brainer to make this hot dog-inspired frozen pop a reality,” Anne Field continued. “For more than 130 years, Oscar Mayer has been sparking smiles and bringing levity into everyday moments, and we are thrilled to bring fans another wonderfully odd way to enjoy our iconic wiener while beating the summer heat.”
