Lake Charles Youth Group Hosting Annual Suicide Prevention Program
September is National Suicide Prevention Month and everyone is encouraged to join the movement. This month is all about supporting those who’ve lost loved ones, celebrating survivors, and advocating for critical resources, mental health, and suicide prevention legislation as we strive to save lives. As Nationtional Suicide Prevention Week comes to a close the finale culminates on September 10, 2022, marking World Suicide Prevention Day.
Since 2002, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention set a goal to one day live in a world where suicide does not exist. I for one, pray that day comes soon. Raising public awareness is certainly one way to achieve this goal. Join the initiative in your community and if you can, participate in annual events like walks and various fundraisers. Funding is critical to continue community and medical services for family support, as well as offer suicide prevention programs to help educate our youth in school.
Saturday, September 10, 2022, the public is invited to attend the 6th Annual Arthur Lee Tutson Youth Fraternity Suicide Awareness Program. This community event is free and will feature guest speakers, local healthcare professionals, city officials, religious leaders, and testimony from residents affected by suicide. In addition, guests will be treated to prevention information, musical entertainment, praise dance performances, and a variety of snacks and refreshments. Please see the flyer below for the time and location:
