Can you believe Louisiana will celebrate the "last long weekend" of summer with Labor Day Weekend in just a few days? No matter what the weather forecast for Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport, or New Orleans says we know the weekend will be hot with a near 100% chance of football.  And because the "forecast" calls for football through the middle of January it might be hard to find a way to get away during the hectic first few weeks of fall.

That's where the weekend road trip can really be a blessing. Not only does it get you and your family out of your house for a few hours. It also provides an opportunity to learn new things and appreciate different walks of life. In the case of the place, we're telling you about now, that different "walk of life" will probably take place on four legs instead of two.

Little Creek Landing Safari Park has just opened its doors for just such an adventure. And by "just opened" I mean they opened their doors to the general public on August 24th. And what they offer is an up-close experience with more than 300 different animals. The species range from the exotic to the common and you and your family can get to know them all a little bit better.

Little Creek Landing is a Short Drive from Louisiana

Depending on where you are in the state the destination is just a few minutes or perhaps a few hours away from you. It's located just west of Hattiesburg Mississippi and it features an amazing experience for animal lovers of all ages.

Guests who experience Little Creek Landing Safari Park might come face to face with kangaroos, zebras, camels, ostrich, antelope, and other creatures not normally found in the Gulf South. The park also has a white bison, a blond water buffalo, and a white emu.

Tours of the park may be done on foot or guests might choose to ride on "the people mover" around the facility. Okay, the people mover is a wagon that's pulled by a tractor but it might be more comfortable for guests who find walking to be difficult.

The facility is open Tuesdays through Sundays. The daily hours do vary depending on the day and there is a dining option available for lunch and dinner as well. The dining room hours are different than the park hours. You may consult Little Creek's website for specific details.
