What Is An Expungement?

An Expungement deletes your criminal record and restores you to the status you had before the offense. The state removes the record from all official sources, but it does not destroy the record.

It's important to note that Louisiana will keep a confidential file of expunged records that only judges, law enforcement, and some state licensing agencies may see. At the same time, employers, banks, and landlords will not see your record.

Do you want a clean slate, but can't afford the expungement fee or don't know what to do to get it filed? The Lake Charles Expungement Clinic will help you get through all the steps wiping your record clean and the best part is it's free. See the flyer below and get started today:

The Lake Charles Expungement Clinic is presented by the Justice & Accountability Center of Louisiana in partnership with the Louisiana Workforce Commission and Louisiana Bar Foundation. For more details go to www.jaclouisiana.org/events, info@jaclouisiana.org, call 1 (504)322-4050.
