(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - A young Louisiana mother is being charged with murder after her infant was found inside a tote.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office (LPSO) reports that in addition to other outstanding charges, the 14-year-old mother is accused of first-degree murder.

WAFB is reporting that the investigation began back on November 21 after authorities were called to a local hospital because of a teen seeking treatment after an at-home baby delivery.
According to the LPSO, deputies investigated the home of the teen mom in Denham Springs after they discovered the young mother placed her baby in a tote at the home to conceal the delivery.

The deputies were able to locate the tote, where they found the infant deceased.
The LPSO believes that the teen was able to successfully conceal her pregnancy to her family.
The teen was first accused of obstructing justice and failing to seek help in connection with her newborn's death. But after an autopsy determined that the cause of death was homicide, she was charged with first-degree murder.
