The 20 stops are the most by a player in the Southland Conference this season and the third-most of any player in the nation.

He’ll enter this Saturday’s “Battle of the Border” game at Lamar leading the nation with 14.7 tackles per game, 8.4 solo stops per contest, and is second in the FCS with 132 total tackles through nine games. That season total ties him with Terry Irving (1991) as the 8th-most in a single season in McNeese football history while also increasing his career total to an even 200 tackles, ranking him just outside the top 25 on the McNeese all-time list.

Davey is the first Cowboy to record 20 tackles in a game since B.J. Blunt recorded 20 against Abilene Christian in 2018. That mark has been reached only two other times in school history, both by Charlie Ayro (20 in 1997 and a school-record 23 vs. Nicholls in 1996).

Weber State linebacker Winston Reid was named the FedEx Ground FCS National Defensive Player of the Week after helping lead the Wildcats to an upset win over fourth-ranked Idaho. Davey is one of 15 players to be named honorable mention.
