Lake Charles, La [KNGT-FM] - A familiar name in the grocery industry known in Louisiana has decided to close up shop and has announced that it will be closing all of its locations in Louisiana.

In a major shift, Southeastern Grocers is rebranding as The Winn-Dixie Company and pulling out of nearly all other markets to concentrate solely on focusing on the Florida and southern Georgia markets instead.

In a statement made by Southeastern Grocers, they said,

“For a century, Winn-Dixie has proudly called Florida home. Our story is built on the resilience and spirit of its people, and that foundation will guide our future," said Anthony Hucker, Chairman and CEO of Southeastern Grocers. "As we enter our next century as The Winn-Dixie Company – a brand-new 100-year-old company – we are accelerating growth where our roots run deepest while staying true to our purpose of feeding and enriching the communities, families, and neighbors who have supported us for generations.”

When Will The Winn-Dixie Locations Close In Louisiana

In Louisiana, there are 13 locations of Winn-Dixie left. All of the locations in Louisiana are located in the Southeastern part of the state, from Baton Rouge and points East. The most affected areas will be in the New Orleans area and its suburbs. The majority of Winn-Dixie's 13 stores left in Louisiana are housed in that part of the state.
