
No Trash Pickup in The City of Lake Charles on Monday, May 25th
Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - As Memorial Day weekend ushers in the unofficial start of summer, residents across Southwest Louisiana are preparing for holiday schedules, family gatherings, and community events. In addition to cookouts and travel plans, local governments are preparing to observe the national holiday with temporary office closures and service adjustments.
The City of Lake Charles has officially announced that all city offices will close on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. The closure includes City Hall, administrative departments, and the Department of Public Works. Regular business operations are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, May 26.

City leaders are also reminding residents about an important interruption to sanitation services during the holiday. There will be no garbage collection on Memorial Day. Residents whose trash pickup normally falls on Monday are encouraged to make alternate arrangements and prepare for a delayed collection schedule following the holiday.

Katie Harrington with the City of Lake Charles announced the updated trash collection schedule of days and times. She said,
Trash and garbage normally picked up on Monday will be rescheduled for pickup on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be rescheduled for pickup on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.Thursday and Friday routes will remain on their regular schedules.
Following collection, all containers and items should be removed from the curb and returned to your residence or designated storage area by 7:00 p.m. the same day in order to help keep neighborhoods clean, safe, and free of obstruction.
