Great American Smokeout: Why Today Matters for Your Health
🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Louisiana — Today is a huge day for some, its "The Great American Smokeout". The American Cancer Society hosts this event on the third Thursday of November every year.
And see... I am aware that stopping is difficult. For years, I have witnessed friends and family members battle with it. But just like New Years starts everyones weight loss journey, Today is the day to start the "Give Up Smoking" Day.
The National Day Calendar simplifies it. Your heart rate begins to return to normal after just 20 minutes without lighting up. Additionally, your blood pressure drops. Sha, that's quick.
Your body then expels all of the carbon monoxide from your most recent cigarette after 12 hours. When you give your system a chance, it quickly begins to clean the house.
After that initial day, things start to truly change. Your risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke begins to decline. That's just a day, after all. When you consider it, that's crazy.
Day2: The food begins to taste better. smelling more pleasant. When your nerves aren't constantly smoking out, food has a different effect.
Day 3: That one may feel harsh. You may feel irritable, anxious, or even a little strange. However, that is typical. Your body is healing as a result.
Just know that if you stick with it for a month, you may find that your breathing improves. Coughing is less frequent. Your chest is less constricted. It's finally a respite for your lungs.
The rest of your life can be genuinely altered by just one day. And if this is that first step, then we should be proud of that, I know that I am proud of you!
