As the summer months are approaching, folks all across the country are looking to take a vacation or a road trip. Whether it's across the country or just down the road, there are a ton of great places to visit. But one place has recently been named one of the worst tourist traps to avoid in Louisiana and the U.S.
Tourist traps are public spaces that draw visitors from outside the area and charge exorbitant prices for refreshments, alcohol, and mementos. Cheapism just published a list of the worst American tourist traps. And on the list was a well-known attraction in Louisiana.
In Louisiana, "joie de vivre," or the "good life," is the general way of thinking, and life is easy. The main attraction in the state of Bon Temps is undoubtedly New Orleans, but visitors shouldn't overlook Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, or Lafayette, the capital of Acadiana.
Savoring Creole and Cajun cuisine, celebrating Mardi Gras, or taking a steamboat tour down the famed Mississippi River are just a few of Louisiana's top activities. You can anticipate that your journey will be infused with the colorful spirit of the South no matter where you travel.
