Lake Charles 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Set for 2024
Join the Lake Charles community on September 8th, 2024, for the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, an event dedicated to honoring the bravery and sacrifice of the first responders and victims of the September 11, 2001, attacks. This solemn tribute will take place on the east side of the McNeese State University football stadium, starting promptly at 3:00 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to arrive between 2:00 and 2:45 p.m. for check-in and to receive their hero tag, a symbolic gesture to remember those who gave their lives on that fateful day. Parking will be available in Lot D.
The event is free and open to the public, offering a meaningful opportunity for friends, families, and community members to come together in remembrance. While participation is free, donations will be accepted on-site, with all proceeds benefiting a first responder charity, ensuring that the legacy of service and sacrifice continues to be supported.
Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or simply looking to honor the memory of 9/11 in a unique way, participants are welcome to wear athletic wear or their own gear. While gear will not be provided, participants may bring firefighting bunker gear, weighted vests, police gear, or even carry American flags as they climb.
To register, visit the event’s official page HERE or sign up in person at the event site starting at 2:00 p.m.
This is more than just a stair climb—it's a chance to reflect, remember, and honor those who served and sacrificed. Your participation ensures that their memory lives on in our hearts and actions. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a powerful community tribute.
