We asked people in Southwest Louisiana to share their favorite spots for the best gumbo around for the next time you're craving a good bowl of gumbo in the Lake Area.

What is your favorite kind of Gumbo? Personally, I am more than okay with just a normal chicken & sausage gumbo with a scoop of potato salad. That is a PERFECT meal for me!

You can put virtually anything in a Gumbo, but some people take it a bit too far. A few years ago, we polled listeners and asked them what the weirdest things they've ever seen put in a gumbo. Here's what they said:

• Ketchup
• Crack raw eggs in gumbo while boiling
• Squirrel head gumbo
• McDonald's French Fries
• Smoked chicken
• Ball's Fried Chicken
• Grits instead of rice
• White vinegar

While some of these sound intriguing, I think I will pass on most of them... Now, with the eggs, I'm okay with a few boiled eggs in a gumbo.
