Much can be said about the towering figure from the Civil Rights Movement, and even more about how he lived his life. U.S. Representative John Lewis has died at the age of 80 after battling pancreatic cancer. He fought for all of us, he stood for what was right, and rallied for what was fair.

Justice was his mission and he dedicated his life to non-violent activism. He fought the good fight against racism for equality, social justice, and the right to vote. He never wavered or backed down, he fought for freedom of all men and lived a life of immense character.

He marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge staring hatred down to make sure the Voting Rights Act was passed. Thank you, Mr. Lewis, for all you have done! We are better because of you.

Mr. Lewis was a real-life hero and a man with moral substance and honor.

May God bless and keep you. May your family and friends accept our deepest most heartfelt condolences.
