Five Arrests Made After Saturday Morning Armed Robbery
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office arrested four men and one woman on Saturday, December 29, after an armed robbery took place at the Lucky Star Casino, located at 2557 Highway 1717 N, in Lake Charles.
It was at about 4:30 am when deputies responded to the robbery where two masked men entered the casino with a gun. The suspects, identified as Tre’von Gray, 17, 3382 L. Benoit Road, Lot 20; and Joshua Stewart, 17, 1608 Clover Drive, "brandished a handgun and demanded money from the security guard". There were reportedly two patrons inside the casino when the robbery took place. The security guard gave the men an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing in a white Chevrolet Impala driven by a third suspect, said a media release.
Detectives later learned the security guard, Brandon Cornell Guillory, 38, 3382 L. Benoit Road. L. 20, had planned the robbery along with Gray, Stewart, Guillory’s fiancée, Amie Nelson, 38, 3382 L. Benoit Road, Lot 20, and Jashone Dean Beverly, 17, 1508 Meadow Drive; all of Lake Charles.
Nelson and Beverly were reportedly seen on surveillance video in the casino beforehand making "preparations for the robbery". Guillory also "intentionally" gave detectives false information which hindered the investigation. Luckily, the stolen money was recovered as well as "items" used during the robbery.
All five suspects were arrested on Saturday and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
Gray, Stewart, Nelson, and Beverly are charged with armed robbery; and armed robbery with a firearm. Guillory is charged with principal to armed robbery; and principal to armed robbery with a firearm. Nelson is currently on parole after being convicted of first-degree robbery.
